Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, I live in Israel, where I am a journalist, teacher, poet, photographer and the artistic director of several theater companies, including Raise Your Spirits Theatre, Dor L’dor Psychological Theater and Na’na Playback Dance Theater.

I am the co-founder and editor-in-chief of the 3,000 page award-winning psychology site, WholeFamily.com, have won three awards in the area of educational theater, in which capacity I have worked with teens at risk and with populations that have suffered trauma, among others, and was the recipient of an American Jewish Press Association award for an essay I wrote on my experience with breast cancer.

I covered the trial and appeal of John Demjanjuk for six years and the uprooting of the Jewish communities of Gaza (Gush Katif). I write about life in Israel, the arts, education and books. I have written PR articles, brochures and films for non-profit organizations such as Gesher, the Talmudic Encyclopedia, Arugot (center for children with special needs), Ohr Torah Stone, Sulamot, Lavie and many others.

I have presented extensively at conferences in Israel and abroad.

My first work in theater and trauma was with the children of Safed in 1975-6, who had been injured in a terrorist attack in which 22 of their classmates had been murdered.

I have engaged in dialogues between Orthodox and non-Orthodox Jews, Jews and Muslims, Christian college students and others.

Biblical musicals I have co-authored have been performed in Israel, North America and India.

I am a board member of ATARA, of Raise Your Spirits Theatre and of the Alliance for Jewish Theatre. Shows I have authored or co-authored have been performed throughout Israel, and in New York, New Jersey, Cincinnati, Canada and India. I teach “Cinema Midrash” in which we explore film through the prism of Jewish sources. Among those films I’ve taught are “Shawshank Redemption,” “Dead Poet’s Society,” Spielberg’s “Close Encounters of a Third Kind” and Chaplin’s “Modern Times.”

My husband and I have children and grandchildren who live throughout Israel.
